Might sound stupid since I'm torrenting quite early, but "Please seed!"

Great news ! Any idea when the upgrade path from version 18.1 will be available through update manager?
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

Don't see a thread yet for "Sonya" Mate release, but downloaded and installed. Easy peasy.
No problems after about 6 hours on an old 2007 Dell Optiplex 745 with SSD and (older) nVidia upgrade. Thanks Clem !!!

I wonder when I can update with Update manager ?
Re: Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” Cinnamon released!
When can we update to 18.2 Sonya Cinnamon ?
Re: Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” Cinnamon released!
You can do it right now. Refresh the update manager. Info via blog should arrive very shortly.jacpra wrote:I wonder when I can update with Update manager ?

When you refresh the update manager - as I told above - you will get an update for mint-upgrade-info. Apply it and wait for the update manager restarting itself. Then open the edit menu.
Re: Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” Cinnamon released!
I use LMDE2 90% of the time, but booted into Mint MATE 18.1 to check this (I had no intention of upgrading yet)... there are no updates available, so no menu item added, hence no path to the upgrade... I tried switching mirrors a few times too. I might try again in few weeks... I'm in no rushCosmo. wrote:When you refresh the update manager - as I told above - you will get an update for mint-upgrade-info. Apply it and wait for the update manager restarting itself. Problem solved. I've changed the mirrors. I've upgrade to Sonya and everything work's fine but in fact i don't see nothing new!
Re: Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” Cinnamon released!
It can take up to 12 hours for any update to propagate to all mirrors and the in-place upgrade option is no exception.
Re: Linux Mint 18.2 “Sonya” Cinnamon released!
Updated to 18.2 Cinnamon without a problem here. It took 1/10 the time for this Mint update to install than it takes for an average minor Windows 10 security update. Great Job !

So fast - so unlike Windows updates - so glad I switched to Linux Mint!

Microsoft makes a patch, and then forces you to update Windows 10.
The Mint Team releases an upgrade, you magically force yourself to upgrade.

True....very true.....
Anyway I'm really missing the "Right Click / Resize Icon" feature of 18.1 Cinnamon. The new Large size option is not large enough for my taste.

Hello,
really great news and excellent job . My small question is - from a performance point of view is it better to do a clean install, in other words, would an update deteriorate performance slightly? I know, a Linux partition does not necessarily require a defrag like NTFS, but still?
Cheers,
Richard
