Couple of things I've noticed.
Didn't offer microcode update in Driver manager.
Simple system monitor not working ( par for the course )
The old ppa for tor-browser not working can't find ( haven't yet made much effort be fair ) the one for bionic.
Other than that sweet as.
Oh... and vim couldn't find /etc/fstab for some weird reason that I fixed with a system restore.. probably a PEBCAK

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
Du anyone have problem installing on Virtualbox. My installation works in software rendering mode.
72 but still kicking, but excuse my English
Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
I have it (64-bit xfce) installed under VirtualBox 5.2.12 on Windows 10 Pro - all working fine.
Now, onto LM 19.0 itself - All VERY minor niggles...
1: Don't like the default theme (Mint-Y?). Mint-X Blue is my fave. Plus the Kokodi theme for the window manager is by far the best - it's one of the few that highlights the active window clearly!
2: Why do they always change the wallpapers - I was hunting around for my fave from LM 18.3, but it seems to have gone. How abaout sticking to a 'default' set, so as to maintain consistency across releases?
The new default wallpaper looks very nifty though...
3: There appears to be a bug in the xfce panel preferences, whereby most of the entries in the "Items" tab, are labelled as "Separator", even though they clearly aren't.
4: The volume icon on the taskbar looks very 'fat' compared to LM18.3
Mike.

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
so. I've downloaded LM19.32 Mate:
the first impressions, are that it does need more resources,
than it did before, & that it's somewhat slower, as well.
this is in a VirtualBox, of course, but it has a medium set of resources.
the Firefox is FF60 & the default search engine is Yahoo ? .. ..
and LibreOffice is Version: 6.0.3.2 ..
the Icons seem a bit clunky, when compared to LM18x,
but that could be the VirtualBox settings, too.
aside from the initial 1,9Gb ISO file, there was another ~900Mb of updates to be had, as well.
and Timeshift is getting a big push, as well, with lots of prompts to initialize it,
and again from within update manager.
- it will be interesting to see, just how much room, that TS needs to utilize on the HDD . ..

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
MATE notification area icons look like ugly regular gnome icons. Cinnamon looks pretty good. Xfce is kind of a mess with the digital clock disappearing and only the analog clock sticking to the panel. Touchpad tap worked for me on Cinnamon and MATE, but xfce needed synaptics touchpad installed and a reboot to get it going. Xfce won't request password coming back from suspend. If you click on the lock screen button in power manager to get it to work--suspend stops working. I'm glad these are in beta for a month because Xfce and MATE need some polishing. I like MATE the best, but hope those ugly icons can be dealt with.

An option to select the size is currently available which I am sure you know so you are saying the actual size of the basic ap may change, right?
Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
that's an unknown, as I've not played with LM19 enough,
to know that much about how it works,
or even if it's that close to the Final Product . . . . . . .

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
That surprised me as well. I didn't allow internet during install so I expected perhaps a few including the mm packages, but there indeed is a lot.
Wonder if many of these will be included in the final beta-release.
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.
Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
I see on Mint 19 that a lot of the window boarders are missing? Only three compared to the many on 18.3
Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
all41 it's still way too early to even speculate on the Final Release, ATM.
- at this stage, it's just everyone just playing around with it.
and I've not yet even seen if there is a feedback box, that can be used . . .

Can't get either firejail or dnscrypt-proxy to work properly when installing from synaptic.. one for the dev's?
Memory usage is currently higher than 18.3 but not catastrophic.
Takes noticeable longer to boot.
So few niggles aside, if you can live with them for the time being and you've got a good enough machine I say go for it.
Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
I got gdebi working by running the file manager as root and then doing ‘install package’. Hope this helps as a workaround.
The only problem I found is that mint update takes a minute longer than 16.04 used to using the same mirrors.

Can confirm gdebi is working this way through root

Re: Linux Mint 19 codenamed “Tara”
Great, I only have to load it once and can begin personalizing it. Still, it is unusable on a daily basis as the browser does not load and software I wanted in the Software Manager was not working either. Patiently waiting and updating (on an other computer ).

Just another reminder, that as a Beta - - LM19 should not be used on your Main Machine,
or in an environment that has any critical process's in place.
the General Idea of any Beta is simply to "Test Drive" the thing.
