Yakuake is a drop down terminl screen, like xterm or kterm. but it drops down from the top of the screen and "rolls" back up at a fkey stroke.

not bad tool.

Mint Software Portal

Post by tbalci »

Hello,

means the Mint Software Portal that we in the near Future don't have to use Synaptic? For me, as a Application oriented novice User, the categories in Synaptic are a big mess. :) I like more to see the GUI-Applications. The libs & co don't interessed me. Mint Software Portal is a very good start. thanks.

Windows is extremely fast after a fresh install. If you want to make it stay that way: - don't use it.

May I suggest WorldofPadman?
It is an absolute outstanding fun FPS based on the gpl'ed Quake3 Engine.
The Installer for linux works very well on Cassandra. (more than 500MB)

beta vs stable

Post by capricornus »

Clem
having installed Cass beta 014, can I expect that everything will be upgradeable with Synaptic? or have we to download stable and reinstall?

Imagemagick can already be installed from synaptic.

magemagick is a set of programs to manipulate various image formats
(JPEG, TIFF, PhotoCD, PBM, XPM, etc...). All manipulations can
be achieved through shell commands as well as through an X11 graphical
interface (display).

Isn't this the same thing you are referring to? :D

Yeah it would be useful. A newbie to Cassie won't have a clue on where to pick .mint files, I fear.

Oh, and what about a link on the homepage?

The Portal was updated:

- There's a new search engine to search for categories and applications. It's case-insensitive, works with one keyword and searches categories and applications' name and description.

- Google ads and Mint sponsors were added to the portal.

- The Item view was improved a bit.

Added:

- Banshee (great to copy music from to your iPod)

- AcidRip (great to backup your DVD movies as DivX/MPG)

- Codec MP3 Encoding (you need that to rip your Audio CDs in MP3.. by default you can only save them as OGG).

Please add Nexuiz and Warsow .... both are GPL'ed Shooters and way better than OpenArena IMHO.
