aapiethaaap: are you sure? Can you confirm the MD5 of the iso you've downloaded from os-iso.de?

The apache service on my mirror was frozen. Seems that was too much for it. I reduced the maximum concurrent clients to "10" downloads. Not much I know.
As I can see it runs well so far. If you have a slot you will keep it.
Hopefully it will run better.

Please try again: http://terakin.de/LinuxMint-3.0.iso

Btw, does anyone of you know a simple queuing download system which could handle concurrent request including ?
1. The user wants to download the file and clicks on it
2. The queue of 10 concurrent downloads is full
3. The user will be transfered to a queue
4. When a slot is empty the next user will be given a link to download

Glory Be! But, I'll wait awhile. Having cd drive issues and probably need a new one (or a new computer?). Or, just buy the cd when it's available.

I used the link blogger posted, no go for me.

I went to http://newelite.ath.cx/minty/?id=8 and chose Direct Link, which works better.

Sparkly new Mint person here ;)

Thanks to Clem and the team for letting Cassandra out of the cage, it looks really nice so far.

There's about 12 seeders now on the torrent, I recommend using bittorrent if you can, and leaving it going as long as you are able. That way everyone can get Cassandra in short order.

Torrent

Postby Sinakor » Wed May 30, 2007 5:19 pm

I just started the torrent, and now I have to go to work. So, I'll have the torrent running for at least 8-10 hours.

Thanks, Clem. I'm very excited!

I haven't had the opportunity to download yet, but a seeded torrent would be the most efficient way to do this. The more people that dl the quicker it will go.

Upgrade Path From Bianca to Cassandra

Postby cedenburn » Wed May 30, 2007 6:13 pm

I just started using Mint with Bianca, is there a forum for doing an upgrade as opposed to Backing up and doing a clean install?

Thanks for a great OS

Chuck

I've tried the Cassandra final CD and I love the new artwork.

Is there a way to upgrade from beta 014 with updates (synaptic)?

If not then I know I should leave /home intact when reinstalling from the Live CD, but what about /usr and /var?

My hard drive is partitioned as follows:
/
/usr
/home
/var

Or should I just back-up my data and do a clean install? I don't have a lot on the system yet, so it wouldn't be too much trouble if it is a better solution than an update/upgrade.

Thanks!

Cassandra is some very fine work. You should be proud!

Very nice review. Just a quick note: The theme was made for Bianca, only the wallpaper changed in Cassandra.

Cassandra

Postby JohnH » Thu May 31, 2007 5:42 am

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Many of you are full of praise for Cassandra, as I am. I would like to suggest that those who can afford to, should send a few dollars of gratitude to the Mint project to assist even greater product development.

This way Clem and the team will feel even more appreciated than the deserving words of praise coming their way at the moment. Extra money can get the hardware and facilities they need to keep producing what looks like becoming one of the top 5 distros.

Regards
John
PS
(no, I am not connected to Clem in anyway....by paying a few bucks I can contribute something since I am not a developer...just a grateful user).

ouch, I thought United States has the fastest broadband in the world. Milwaukee is a quite big city and the speed is slow? Then change to the alternative eg. 3G or HSDPA wireless modem if you're using fix/cable or vice versa; would it solve your problem :?: :?: :?:

Fastest internet? We get what we pay for but I'd say that's likely a myth. In any case, I am anxious to find out a bit about this OS. I really love the easy to set up OS' as I have been using PCLinux for a bit and it's great, but I used Ubuntu while waiting for PCLinuxOS 2007 stable and now I miss the stability of gnome 2.18 and can't wait to give this a try.
