Speaking of Flatpak...I noticed that my / partition had grown substantially since upgrading to 19.2 - almost 2GB more! It turns out that the update automatically enabled the system Flatpak remote - which I had disabled, as I wanted my / partition as pristine as possible. So, when I decided to install a new Flatpak, it defaulted to the system remote and downloaded a bunch of libraries that I had already installed in the user remote. To solve this, I had to add an alias - flatpak='flatpak --user'.

Wish I could have been notified before this change was made. I can understand it during an initial install, but not on an upgrade.
Mint 19.2 XFCE
kernel 4.15.0-64-generic
AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core w/16 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 960 w/2GB RAM (435.21)

Okay, your issue is different, and quite troubling unless it's the sudo timer (for lack of a better way of describing it.)
I know what you mean by the sudo timer. It's not that.

Late last night I upgraded a 19 VM to 19.2. I installed one app, it asked for password. Then I closed and opened Software Manager and installed a flatpak, it didn't. I then closed the Software Manager and opened it again and installed another non flatpak app. It again asked for a password. I did these as fast as I could.

Any chance closing the Software Manager resets this for you?

I closed the Software Manager before installing a non-Flatpak and it still didn't ask for a password.

It's above my head. I suggest you open a thread in the Software section. Probably get more and better eyes on it there.

If you have issues with 19.2, please post a question in a support subforum rather than here

Bit the bullet today and upgraded to 19.2 on my main machine. Smooth as. Took about 5 mins. Perfect! Love Mint.

One (IBM G40) v19.2 XFCE (32 bit) installation directly from image burned to DVD.
The IBMs ethernet card liked the FOSS drivers right off the bat and served as the internet connection during the installation. Wifi came later after a little tinkering.
Another (Acer AOA150) from XFCE v19.1 USB image and then migrated to v19.2 using the link in the update manager.
Even typed some Klingonese into that that funnel or terminal whatchamacallit to consolidate and update the v19.1 files prior to the migration to v19.2.
Effortless both times and apparently without error or mishap ... knock on wood.
Should have came over to Linux years ago.
If the rumours are true that Windows customers will be charged for security updates MS won be able to give Windows 11 away.
