The update went smoothly for me, except for the following.

A Synaptic window offers to show me differences between a new version of a file and the old one, but when I tell it so to do, it shows a blank pane. (I've filed a bug report for this.)

As in this beta bug report, MintReport appears to tell me that I need to set a root password, even though I have.

MintReport tells me I should install the 'XApp Status Applet'. I wonder why this isn't installed automatically. Also, if I tell MintReport to install it, then it opens the 'Applets' window and the user is left unsure what to do (partly perhaps because that latter window itself is not as clear as it might be). I worked out I needed to locate the relevant applet in the list and then press the '+' button. More instructions are needed here, I think (if the applet is not to be installed automatically).

EDIT: The new default video player Celluloid seems not to have been installed and there seems to be no packaged called 'celluloid'. Please advise.

Clem has already advised, in the blog post. It's item 4.

You do not use the stock Update Manager, but the Update Manager, got from gm10's PPA.
So you should not have posted your complaint here.
But never mind, gm10 anticipated your complaint and posted the solution already in the appropriate thread, Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

Well, it happens every point release, I'm sure you anticipated it as well, as did Clem in the release notes. The post in my PPA thread was actually in reaction to the post you quoted, expecting that someone might be pointed there eventually. So I really anticipated you!
Tune up your LM 19+: ppa:gm10/linuxmint-tools

Has anyone made the leap directly from 19.0 Cinnamon to 19.3? Did you have any issues?
I'm seeing here comments upgrading from 19.2 but none from 19.0 and I want to be certain that I'm not jumping too far.
Thank you. :)

Hello, bearzlos.

Sorry, no more LM 19 here. The oldest 19.x release here is LM 19.1 Tessa.
LM 19.1 Tessa has been upgraded to LM 19.3 Tricia by now.
LM 19.3 xfce "tricia" is up and running. :D
The whole, not too exciting story can be found here: Upgrade to LM 19.3 xfce from LM19.1 xfce - Bye bye to Tessa after 6 months only

With respect to upgrading LM 19 Tara to LM 19.3 Tricia, I do not see any reason why the process should not succeed. But as always in real life: you never can be sure, before you have tried it. :)

Regards,
Karl

is this because i have the 19.3 beta and it will transition to the full release in the next updates?
That's exactly right. You are already on 19.3.

I just went with the 19.3 beta....
for whatever reason, 19.2 and all other distros would not even make it to full Live Session on this laptop.
any distro, any flavor.

that is what I get for "just have to have" the newest piece of hardware out there.
never make that mistake again. I lost a full year of enjoying Mint because the software did not recognize my hardware.

Installed both LM 19.1 XFCE 32/64 bit booting from flash drive on Acer netbooks , IBM & Lenovo ThinkPads.
Most of these were Windows o/s overwrites.
Progressed from 19.1 to 19.2 using update manager upgrade link under edit tab.
Used what worked when upgrading 19.2 to 19.3.
I fully updated the 19.2 installations before upgrading to 19.3.
Again no issues ... everything works.

Firstly, congrats to all the LM team for getting 19.3 out before Christmas :)

My upgrade went smoothly (for the most part), but I have a few issues (I wouldn't call them problems) and was wondering where the best place to post them? I don't want to hijack this thread as it's an announcement.

TIA
Phil

Depends on what they are; software issues go in Software & Applications, hardware issues go in Hardware Support (and then the suitable subforum if there is one) and so on.
