Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
You sure this is a BETA?
Hahaha, it runs so smooth and so nice without any problems.
Great job with this one!

Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
Incredibly solid for a beta. Great job!
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
Still there are people who discover flaws. Translated from Dutch:
Source: https://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/index.php?t ... msg1049074Gthumb cannot import photos from the camera. XN Convert won't install and Darktable is a bit lost.
That's not me by the way, i'm using LMDE.
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
LM 20 has been solid for me. I'm using it as my daily driver already. Only thing I changed was the Kernel to the Liquorix Kernel for better streaming.
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
Hey clem! Just new to Mint but already in love with it! Oh and I have LM 20 running right now. So far, no bugs have not been found. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
Following my post in the newbie section; just a heads-up for the Mint 20 people.
It appears (to me, and in honesty I don't understand how apparmor works as it's new to me) that there's an issue somewhere between msmtp and apparmor. There's a apparmor profile for msmtp which is, I think, new to Mint 20 (it's not on my 19.3 install) I'm getting errors sending mail due to permissions both reading the default config file and writing to the log. The profile looks ok to me at a glance (but, as I say, I don't know apparmor) so I don't know what/where the problem is.
I've disabled apparmor for now whilst I look into it.

Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
I am testing the beta but I am tempted to use it as a daily driver until the stable version is out. Tested on a HP laptop and it is stable. Encountered the fewest issues in any Linux distro beta that I have tested. The issues do not affect the stability of the OS. Thank you @Clem and the rest of the Linux Mint development team for the most stable beta that I have tested and used and keep up the good work.
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
Thanks to everyone. Lovely system! I also use VMWare in Win10 with Mint and it works immediately. Thanks for including all the software so I can drag and drop between guest and host right away. Amazing new Mint.
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
Beta installed and mainly running nicely on a pre-test live USB - hope to fresh install the final release. Not unusual for betas, but some software I regularly use won't install or run - CherryTree, XnViewMP, PulseAudio Equalizer - possibly not ready for Ubuntu 20.04 (yet). Based on weird Snap dependency will be replacing Chromium browser after years of use, with either regular Chrome or Vivaldi, both installed and working.
TRUST BUT VERIFY any advice from anybody, including me. Mint/Ubuntu user since 10.04 LTS. LM20 64 bit XFCE (Dell 1520). Dual boot LM20 XFCE / Win7 (Lenovo desktop and Acer netbook). Testing LM21.1 Cinnamon and XFCE Live for new Lenovo desktop.
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
This version is quite stable, it really doesn't seem like a beta version, it hasn't caused any problems for me, only sometimes some applications that I use get stuck when closing them

@rogerguate:
That stuck-closing problem seems not to have been reported. So, please report it - here. Say that you are using the Cinnamon flavour.

Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release

Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release

Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release
There's no release date, it will be released when it's ready.....anirban_dutta wrote: ⤴Sun Jun 21, 2020 10:04 am Mint 20 final version release date? Can I change update server(India mirror) for better speed? I'm eagerly waiting for Mint 20 final version release!
You can use Mint 20 Beta and keep updating it, once the final stable release is out you will have it already. No need to re-install.
Re: Linux Mint 20 "Ulyana" Cinnamon - BETA Release

There are always unknown bugs that crop up with beta software. It is not meant to be used yet as a primary daily driver OS. Use at your own risk. Here's what the release said (in part) about this beta release:anirban_dutta wrote: ⤴Mon Jun 22, 2020 7:24 amOkay , is there any issue if I install & regular use Mint 20 beta Cinnamon as my primary OS? I've been running the beta XFCE for about a week now, on a computer that's just an old "extra" I have and only experienced one bug... but I noticed on the Github bug tracker that it had already been reported. The BETA phase is literally a bug squashing rush, where the team is extremely busy and developers try to fix as many bugs as fast as possible.
There usually are a huge number of reports and very little time to answer everyone or explain why a particular report is not considered a bug, or won’t get fixed. Don’t let this frustrate you, whether it’s acknowledged or not, we appreciate everyone’s help.
Please visit https://trello.com/b/9BY9I6Lp/linux-mint-20 and https://github.com/linuxmint/mint20-beta to follow the progress of the development team between the BETA and the stable release.

OK... and if I tell you I know the final release date ?
Probably: 30/06/2020 why ? because of the table below I just compiled. You can't know for sure. But you can estimate based on past experience.
Took me some time in the mint blog to get all the betas and final releases dates from the posts, Hope you like it.
