Running it in VMware, haven't founds any bugs yet. It runs fantastic!
Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
Well, I have downloaded both Cinnamon and Mate, then burned each image to a 32 G SanDisk USB stick. I had planned to install 20.2 alongside 20.1 and check out the new system. Unfortunately, the installer for either Mate or Cinnamon did not see the hard drive at all. The only drive it saw was the install stick!
So, I ran GParted from the live boot, and it still didn't see the hard drive. Then I opened a terminal window and ran fdisk -l, with the same results. I have installed Mint 20 and 20.1 many times on a lot of machines.and never had a problem,. I'm hoping this was just an isolated incident, and really don't have a compelling reason to move to 20.2 when it is released, but will download the iso image and burn it to a USB stick. If that doesn't work, I'll burn a DVD and try it that way.
Here is the output of

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
A minor thing I know, but noticed that the F6 keypress to toggle panes in Nemo already works in 4.8.6 - I've been using it for a while.

20.2 Cinnamon: Setting the button theme to any Mint-X variant causes a light-grey 1px line at the top of the desktop background. This was not the case with 20.1 Cinnamon.

If anyone feels they may have a genuine issue to submit, I'd suggest reading the "Bug Reports" section of the the release announcement.

How long does it typically take to become stable version?

Translation for 90% of the users, in particular with Mint's audience in mind: "Please don't report issues and hope that someone else does."JoeFootball wrote: ⤴Sun Jun 20, 2021 2:51 pm If anyone feels they may have a genuine issue to submit, I'd suggest reading the "Bug Reports" section of the the release announcement.
Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
20.1 Cinnamon Beta was announced on 2020-12-16, and the release was on 2021-01-08, i.e. roughly three weeks. That would put the 20.2 release at mid-July. But it's more of a "it's done when it's good" policy.

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
Depends on how many of what kind of bugs need to be resolved, and any other hurdles to be cleared. But typically, approximately 2-3 weeks.norse wrote: How long does it typically take to become stable version?
Examples: LM 20 Beta (Jun 14) to LM 20 (Jun 27); LM 20.1 Beta (Dec 16) to LM 20.1 (Jan 8 ).

To be even more clear, report Beta issues where the developers can address them.DPM wrote: Translation for 90% of the users, in particular with Mint's audience in mind: "Please don't report issues and hope that someone else does."

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
I used yesterday's rainy Sunday to play around with Cinnuma. For now only in VirtualBox.
So far everything is as it was, only flaw: the Cinnamon menu. After the usual renaming and comment deleting orgy in the menu editor, the menu window is a bit sparse in width.
This is the case with all Mint-X and Mint-Y themes.
The Cinnamenu applet, on the other hand, has no problem with Cinnuma:
Addendum:
Played around with Nemo's new text search capabilities for content: this is very promising.

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
Will the Mint 20.2 include updating KMyMoney?
KMyMoney 5.1.2 released
The current version of KMyMoney available on Mint is 5.08.

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
As that's governed by Ubuntu, and Mint 20.2 will still be on the Ubuntu 20.04 codebase, I'd say it's unlikely.SteveR wrote: Will the Mint 20.2 include updating KMyMoney?

Or if you already have LM 20.2 installed via the Beta ISO, it should update to the Stable disposition.Bolle1961 wrote: .. and download links
Re: Linux Mint 20.2 “Uma” Cinnamon – BETA Release
I can safely say that after Linux Mint 19.1 “Tessa”, this is the best release. No more thunar for bulk-rename. No more searchmonkey to search file contents.
