Glad to report:
there is nothing to report--installed and working without a hitch so far,
no taming needed, excellent oob release.
Downloaded the .iso and booted it within 2 hours of the release notice--after which update manager
pulled an additional 618Mb of Ubuntu upstream updates.
But it all went perfectly.

How long does it usually take for a new version to be made available via the Update Manager?
Running Linux Mint Mate 20.3 on a T61 ThinkPad.

You will never get LM 21 via update manager. Only by download or by the new upgrade tool, which isn't available at now. And only, when all bugs in LM 21 are or seem to be fixed.

Only limited testing ( a day or so), but no problems here. (Lenovo hardware)
Mint 20.0, and 21.0 MATE on Thinkpads, 3 X T420, T450, T470, and X200
