:Solution to the Issue:
Click on one of the list with packages and "fix". May be one has to repeat with other packages.

mintupgrade went flawless on my laptop. On my desktop, the display wouldn't work so I used the laptop to ssh into the desktop, removed all nvidia 495 driver packages and installed nvidia-driver-515. After reboot, it worked.

Will the Mint Upgrade remove all Foreign packages ?

Is there away to skip, because my mint will die as 20.3 if i need to install everything.

For me, most of the packages from foreign sources have been preserved.
I found that a big advantage over a fresh installation.
To eliminate certain packages from foreign sources, makes sense.
For example, I had installed LibreOffice as the latest version as a ppa. The same is now available in LM 21 in the official sources. The foreign sources are deleted to make room for the correct ones (even if they are almost the same).
This was also the case with the wonderful music player Lollypop. After upgrading was finished I reinstalled both programs. (Why I had to do that with LO as well, I don't know.) But all in all, about 10 more programs were taken over without problems, so I didn't have to reinstall them as usual.

You have still the option for a fresh install.

That doesn't look very promising.

Upgrade paths are fine and often work re debian derivatives on the same base, however it's far easier/quicker to back up the usual stuff and reinstall when changing base.

I go with the path of least resistance.

I.e don't upgrade until a few updates.

Fresh install is generally fine.

I like to think I almost know what I'm doing/expecting though as I dual boot a Siduction and Mint install (both cinnamon) on 2 separate SSD's... Mint being my daily driver.

Every day is a school day which is why I read useful posts like yours before considering early change of base updates.

I tried to upgrade one of my desktops and ran into the Foreign Software problem. It was LibreOffice and Wine, I uninstalled LO and rebooted, it came back with the same errors. I tried to press the FIX button and nothing changed, tried the Re-scan button, same thing. I tried to uninstall LO on my second desktop and did a cold re-boot, same results. There is an issue here and until it gets fixed I think I will stay with 20.3.

Folks unable to upgrade in place but not keen to do fresh install might want to look at Aptik. Never used myself but it gets good reviews on the Forum. Developed by the same person (Tony George) as Timeshift. Not free, lifetime license is $25.

I ran mintupgrade on an ol i5 intel NUC.

It warned on 2 sw packages that needed attention , spotify had to be downgraded, the other had to be revoved, then reinstalled after upgrading..
Update went smooth after fixing those 2
