Elder:

1. Yes, instructions will be published in the Wiki soon...

2. No. Lars has been working on new features and improvements. Among the changes he also addressed the memory leaks. According to him there are still a few leaks but nothing compared with the current version. The new mintMenu will come in Daryna.

Antiquexray: It's an ongoing debate. According to me, NO, don't upgrade things unless you know how to fix your system (if it breaks) or else select the packages you want to upgrade and know why you're doing so. That's just my personal opinion though. If you really want to upgrade just avoid dbus, hal, kernel stuff and xorg.. the rest should be safe enough.

Now that Beagle is gone, and it should use less memory would you recommend installing Celena ona a Thinkpad T30 1,8 Ghz with 256MB RAM ? Or should I just stick with the XFCE version ?

I think that Celena works well on that computer.

Of course XFCE CE will run faster than Gnome.

Linux Mint 3.1 is great

Postby kevinrs » Tue Sep 25, 2007 3:14 pm

I installed Celena stable from scratch as I had the first beta on my computer. Easy installation. My thanks to Clem and the team for their hard work.

I cant wait till the next release. :D

Wow, this is great news! So have upgrade instructions been posted somewhere on the Wiki and I'm just not looking in the right place, or is it not up there yet?

It's a bit early for the upgrade instructions but soon...

Hmm. On the Celena release notes page (http://linuxmint.com/celena.html) it says it's "built on top of Ubuntu Edgy." It should say Feisty. Also, since Gnome just made a big release, I think you should specifically say what version of Gnome is included with Celena.

Personally though, I can't wait for the KDE version. :)
