Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna - BETA 021 is out!

Post by clem »

Hi,

The first release candidate for Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna is out and available for download.

Download page: http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php
Release notes: http://www.linuxmint.com/rel_daryna_b21.php

NOTE: Something was not mentioned in the release notes: Daryna includes the Red Hat Liberation Fonts.

Please test it heavily so we can find and fix as many bugs as possible.

Clem

The new Mint 4.0 looks fantastic. Great work Clem and gang! One question: Is Linux Mint 4.0 affected by the same network issues plaguing Ubuntu Gutsy at the moment? See this article for details "http://www.theregister.com/2007/10/24/u ... bbon_ipv6/". Also, will Mint 3.x users be able to upgrade to Daryna once it's final? (I know you guys recommend a fresh install, but I have Celena tweaked and polished to perfection!) Thanks for another fantastic OS!

I am interested in updating too? Will it be possible to update from older versions?

IPv6 is disabled by default.
Looked like they didn't understand how IPv6 works in that link.

Yes, there will be a guide sometime after the stable release.

Unfortunately I cant even boot with the LiveCD, I just get my monitor sent into powersave, in normal or safe graphics mode.

Ubuntu is ok (well Edgy was), its just Mint that doesnt work.

Edit Daryna works (in a fashion) at least I have graphics! at 1600x1200. Now I just need to figure how I can get my network adapter and internet working with my router. :)

Thanks

Clem: Time to take some time off, maybe two hours. I worked twenty fours a day for 33 years. It will make an old man out of you.
I have it installed and it looks great.
Great work

Great work on getting the beta out :D Took me totally by surprise.

Just one thing, not a bug though. I'm a big fan of Emerald, how do I set that as my window decorator?

Hi, I'm new on these forums but I've been using mint for just over 6 months now.

Where should we be posting bugs we've found in the BETA?
On here? Or is there going to be a topic just for bugs?

Any moment now I'll start seeding the beta - thrilled to know what it looks like... won't have time to install quite yet :)

Everything seems to work out of the box: A-link wireless USB-dongle, Asus digiTV etc. 8)
