Post by Kynan » Thu Nov 29, 2007 7:51 am

This is just a warning message to ubuntu and mint users alike to be careful with the code they use from users.

Never, ever touch most of these commands. Some of them have a legit use, but I would not post that publicly, but rather as a PM to the user who needs it.

Yea fair enough, i was actually a little shocked that they posted it up there as well. The more people that know about it the more that are tempted to play ticks on unsuspecting newcomers. But at the same time hiding the information won't help much either. If someone was so inclined they could have found the information they needed if they really wanted.
I don't think we would have many malicious hacker types here, i've only come across people trying to help one another. So i figured id post it.
If you feel its inappropriate please take the post down.
Kynan.

In my opinion, its better for people to see that article and maybe even save a copy so they are aware of those codes, so that if they ever see them in a PM from a malicious user, they can be aware and informed and hopefully not execute the commands.

I agree with Noob -- I think it benefits people more to see it and be aware of these commands than it, ahem, "benefits" those who find it as a resource to do bad things.

Thanks for posting it, Kynan. You did the right thing.

It would be good for the admins to keep an eye out for those lowlifes who fall into the latter category.

[On a completely unrelated topic, I tried Linux Mint Cassandra Xfce several months ago and liked it. But I installed Daryna on a Dell laptop I rebuilt and I absolutely LOVE it. Great work, all!]
