Alternative lightweight login manager?

Post by dsgna89 »

Hi!

What would be alternative Login Managers other than MDM? I have a problem with my screen freezing for around a minute after logging in with MDM and was looking for alternatives. I saw that SLiM was popular as a lightweight DM, but it hasn't been updated for quite some time.

Would like to hear your suggestions.

Thank you:)

But its pretty ugly...:s
I liked SLiM's look and MDM is so customization. I don't mind bleeding edge software, provided the developers are active.

Anyways thanks for the suggestion:)

lxdm is another login manager, similar to slim.
I like it. I had to install slim on a Debian 7 PC though, because lxdm wasn't available (it is in Ubuntu and its Mint derivatives)

It's probably no so updated either too, but I can't see where's the issue with that.
Lightdm was an unskinned, very ugly thing - on that debian laptop it even displayed a background that looked like graphical corruption :). It can look very good though.. Well, maybe in a default Ubuntu (or maybe Xubuntu, Lubuntu) installation, where it has been set up for you.

Both lxdm and slim have a default theme and background (rather blue)
