Is Linux Mint using Mir rather than Wayland? I just had a package installed for Mir on Mint Update

Post by CrazyElf »

Just wondering, is Linux Mint going with Mir? I just had a package from MintUpdate with Mir to install.

All I could find about this topic is here:

The package was libmirclient9.

I'm seeing that today in my update manager too. Why would it want to install any mir components?

GTK+3 package (libgtk-3-0) depends on libmirclient9 because GTK+3 has a Mir backend (in addition to X11, Wayland and some others).
Other packages are pulled in as dependencies of libmirclient9.
