Compiz, VLC and MATE panels

Post by Samsonnine »

Hi,

I have LM19, with Compiz (I had to use it to solve tearing problems).

When VLC is in fullscreen mode, if I move the mouse, the control bar appears BUT the MATE-panel appears in the same time. I can't have VLC in fullscreen AND use the control bar WITHOUT the mate-panel coming in front of the video.

You can see it here : https://framapic.org/l3TiLhM8lnr4/yINXV1fa63pR.png

Do you know how to solve this ?

I have the same problem and looking for a solution.
I don't want to leave Compiz because I need some of its features; that's why I disabled VLC's fullscreen control bar.
I am afraid I'll have to wait for update to solve this eventually.
Please write here if you find a solution until then.

19.1 with Mate + Compiz 0.9.13.1 + VLC 3.0.4

Edit: From Synaptic I downgraded VLC to version 3.0.3 and the problem is gone.

Try enabling Compiz settings Window Management/Window Rules. Put vlc in the Above field by typing 'class=vlc' (without quotes)

edit: In my case I already was using Window Rules to keep the Mate panel Below using class=Mate-panel. See the screenshot:
