[SOLVED] Mint9 LXDE - How to change grub boot menu items??

Post by pulsta »

Hi guys,

I'm used to Gnome versions but thought I'd give the LXDE a spin and it's great! :D

Now onto my little problem...

Now, in the bulk standard version of Mint you can edit /boot/grub/menu.lst to change boot order and such things but there is no such file on LXDE (that I could find anyway)

I've searched the forum and nothing came up, surely this is a common enough question??

Any way if anyone has the answer as to where I can edit the grub menu that would be really appreciated.

TIA

KD.

/boot/grub/menu.lst is an element of Grub 1 or legacy grub. You have now installed a recent version of an Ubuntu based distro (e.g. Mint 9 in any form) which uses Grub 2 and there are some significant differences. See
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275

for some thorough descriptions. Even the gnome version of Mint or Ubuntu will present you with the same new file structure for grub.
Happy learnings.
