Assuming you're talking about the future of Mint Fluxbox it's already there. The current direction of Linux Mint does not have neither LXDE nor FLuxbox editions. They are both discontinued. All you had to do to know that is follow the blog posts by Clem and you would've gotten that "update" already. (Sorry if I don't give you a link, but I'm not in a spoon-feeding mood today - and you probably know where to find the blog)

fluxbox is still in most of the repos? I have cinnamin mint 13 with flux installed, works fine for me.

Linux Mint DE XFCE with Openbox installed, properly tweaked. uses less ram than Crunchbang. Since Fluxbox is similar, I imagine it would use less ram also.

Lubuntu's Openbox session used less than both, but you need to enjoy system errors.
