Cannot set static IPV4 specs,..Save Button greyed out,

Postby pwindell » Thu May 17, 2012 10:58 am

Using LinuxMint 12 "Lisa" with Gnome
Cannot set static IPV4 specs in the GUI,..Save Button greyed out (disabled).
As soon as you change the drop-down from DHCP to Manual the Save Button disables.
When hovering over the Save Button is says I much authenticate to save the change for all users of the machine,...yet there is no indication of exactly how one is supposed to go about authenticating to satisfy the thing.

I'm not interested in commandlines or editing config files,...if the GUI Tool is included in the Distro then it should work, otherwise there is no point in it being there.

Once you have select Manual as Method, you press the Add button next to the Addresses table. Upon entering a valid Address, Netmask and Gateway, the Save button is enabled.

When you hoover over the Save button, it always shows that message. Even if Method is set to Automatic (DHCP), so it is not an error message or something.

I did that. It still did not enable. But I went back a re-tried today and it worked fine,...I don't get that,..bt it works now, that is all that matters

BTW - 12 = "Lisa",...the next version is "Maya",...is someone a big Iceroad Truckers fan? Is that where the names come from? If that is true, I have some amount of contact with Lisa Kelly (and a little of Maya) from the show,...they might be interested in knowing someone named a OS after them.

no. the answer you were given, in a different thread, yesterday regarding the naming convention of Linux Mint releases has not changed. it has nothing to do with Ice Road Truckers.

I didn't see that reply till an hour or so ago. It was just an honest question, why is it treated like a crime? I was told to "not be crass" in that other reply (which I was not being).

Posting the same topic in multiple sections of the forum ("cross-posting") is against the forum rules, hence BrianD's response. As for my reply to you to "not be crass", as I shared I had no clue you were referring to some television show. Perhaps next time give us non-Americans a clue it is a television show
