GNOME-dial up-the pain [Solved]

Post by Mint-O-Meal » Thu Feb 22, 2007 1:08 pm

Hello to all.

I really want to be a Linux Mint user but I need help.

I have an external serial modem (dial-up user). For some reason I can't get on the internet with any GNOME distro, they don't see my modem...or I don't know what to use to find it.

I downloaded Mint thinking the extra config tools (Control Center) would be better than Ubuntu, but....

In Mint I went to Networking and configured the modem, then added the modem applet to taskbar but no joy.

All KDE distro's (including Kubuntu) find my modem, I fill in the ISP info in KPPP and on the net in a flash.

If anyone can help, thanks, if not I guess I'll wait for Mint KDE and hope for the best.

Did I post this in the wrong section ? no dial-up users here ?

Is there anyone who would know why my serial ports aren't seen ?
