Please Help: RDP connection from Windows to Mint

Post by Uncle Bob » Fri Mar 02, 2007 7:10 pm

I have this problem. I can connect from my Mint machine to my XP machine fine using Terminal Server Client. I cannot however, do the reverse.

How do enable my Mint machine to allow RDP connection from my XP machine? :?

I am not sure there is a reliably working RDP server software for Linux? RDP happens to be Microsoft's invention if I am not wrong, and they probably regard this as being a "trade secret". You might try your luck with these projects:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xrdp
http://www.thinstuff.com/
http://www.2x.com/terminalserver/termsrvfeatures.htm

Other than that I suggest you use VNC? VNC should be available via the repos for your Linux installation and a VNCviewer can be easily installed on Windows:

I personally use TightVNC ... All the needed packages are available via Synaptic; the Windows stuff can be downloaded for free from their web site: http://www.tightvnc.com/
