NetworkManager - only one of wireless or wired active ?

Post by venk25 » Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:42 am

Why does NetworkManager applet let only one of wireless or wired connection be active ? Can I not have both active ?

I usually use wireless. When I'm physically get near my router or when I want to do some big file transfers, I prefer to use wired connection. So, I plug in the Ethernet cable to my laptop, and NetworkManager instantly recognizes that I've plugged in cable, disconnects wireless and connects the wired connection. This however severs existing connections (ssh sessions, torrent sessions etc.), since they were established using wireless connection. Is there a way to configure Network Manager (or whicever does this) to let both connections live simultaneously and NOT disconnect the existing connection ?

Thanks !

Is it possible to do this? I believe that's what should happen.
You would get all sorts of problems if it did not happen, I believe
