[SOLVED] Ethernet card tries but never connects

Hi,

my ethernet card is always trying but never succeeding to connect to the network. I tried to update the driver following http://askubuntu.com/questions/650953/i ... ot-working, but this didn't work. I tried some other tricks found here or there, with no avail.

Your kernel series (3.13) is probably too old for your new hardware.

a. Install the latest kernel from the 3.19 series:

Then reboot.

b. When no improvement: install the latest kernel from the 4.2 series.

Then reboot.

c. When still no improvement: check for a newer BIOS / UEFI and when available, install it.

Upgrading to 3.19 didn't solve the problem... But also broke the wireless!

That's a pity.... In the Grub bootloader menu, select Advanced options and boot from the 3.13 kernel. Then remove the 3.19 kernel and try the latest version of the 3.16 kernel.

Both wired and wireless connections now work! I apologize for my initial skepticism. (It's funny, it still has to try 4-5 times before succeeding sometimes.) Many thanks for your help!
