DHCP Client failure [SOLVED]

Post by rromano010 »

Hi all, I am new to this forum, I am not new to Linux.
Few day ago started got trouble thru WIFI connection to mobile router, I seen on the past when I was connected to WIFI connection was unstable after some time from some AP and never reconnect if forced to or stay connected few minutes then freeze again.
After that wifi got worst and never connect to mobile router so I connected a wired client and got surprise also cable network don't connect to so inspecting process I found DHCP client was no more working nor from command line.
Setting static address from command line or Network manager connection remain active for a long time without problem.
Has someone else experienced this issue?
Thank you very much.
Roberto

Re: DHCP Client failure

Is your router acting properly as a dhcp server? You can test by looking at tbe router configuration as per the router manual.
Usually it is http :192.168.1.1

Try connecting other device like your mobile phone etc by wi fi to the router.
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.
Regards,
Deepak

Re: DHCP Client failure

Upgraded a lot of packet and also kernel, DHCP client restarted working and also WIFI too.
I got no time to test if WIFI was working with a fixed address, now all is ok and I don't wish tamper to test.
When failure appeared DHCP was working on both WIFI and cable.
Other device got addresses smoothly so no way to do more test to pinpoint problem.
About DHCP and address:
main wifi router 4G gateway still is on its default 192.168.1.1 with DHCP on subnet 1
all other router are on different subnet due I cannot use same network number,
client router are running DD-WRT, so I logged in and seen DHCP Daemon was fine.
DD-WRT router was used to solve temporarily, client was connected to 4G Gateway WIFI router, address set by DHCP run fine as for other devices like an andtroid tablet,
other devices got address from cable thru DD-WRT DHCP,
MINT PC was troubled on both networked way.

hi,

I am having same issue:
Wifi works without any problemd. However wired network is not able to get IP from dhcp. Would appreciate if you can guide me which packages you updated that resolved the issue.
