[Solved] Laptop MSI GE62 7RE: no wired Lan and no wireless Lan access

Post by GreenFrog » Tue Apr 04, 2017 6:40 am

Hi,

I installed LM 18.1 64-bit Cinnamon on a msi ge62 7re laptop and after intallation (see viewtopic.php?f=46&t=243025) I have no wired Lan or wireless Lan access.

I found this https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2314873.

So I tried:
sudo -i
modprobe alx
echo '1969 e0a1' > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/alx/new_id
The last command gave me the 'file already exits' error...

I also looked at: https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... t/internet
then https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... /reserve-7
My chipset is not present...

Then I selected Menu -> Driver Manager and inserted the LM 18.1 iso USB.
I chose intel-microcode then restarted. Still no wired lan or wireless lan.

Any idea? Thank you for your time.

Code: Select all

$ ipconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

$sudo lshw -class network

Thank you JeremyB! I found the solution on this Forum by tethering my Android phone (parameters -> Modem -> Modem USB) to get a new kernel.

Cheers!
