speed test on linux mint mate V windows 10

Not sure if this is in the correct part of the forum, if not please move.

I have 2 hard drives, the first one has windows 10 the other now has mint mate 18.2.
My broadband speed is up to 76Mbps, now if I do a speed test on windows 10 and then boot in to mate I get very different results and for the life of me I can't see why this should be.

The last test I did was yesterday, on windows 10 the speed was 74.9 download and upload was 18,45 but on mate it was 18.94 download and upload was 18.69, that's a really big difference between the 2 OS's

I hope some one can give me an idea of why it's like this please

Which apps were you using to test the speeds? Or were you using a website?

See the wireless script link in my signature and post results. We should be able to tweak some settings depending on the wifi chipset

Sorry I should have said my PC is hardwired, ethernet cable.
It's the Ookla speedtest.net site and one called broadband speed-test.co.uk I get the same results no matter which speed test site I use.

Are there apps for mint mate to test the speeds?
