ethernet doesn't connect on boot

Post by lammergeir »

I've searched the forums, but no answers.
When I boot up, ethernet sometimes connects, but mostly doesn't.
It connects if I unplug the cable and re-insert at either my pc or modem.
This has been an on-going problem with Mint 18.
I reverted to Kernel 4.4 because I had a very fast mouse. That is now behaving.
Grateful for any suggestions.
Many thanks,

I am no expert but first thing I would do is load the Realtek drivers. Does Driver Manager have any pertinent details? Oops, I guess 18.2 has no "Driver Manager".

I've loaded realtek drivers. Will try again

Re: ethernet doesn't connect on boot SOLUTION

Solution: purchased an Edimax EU-4208 usb ethernet adaptor. Clearly realtek drivers not compatible with ubuntu.
