Resolving hosts extremely slow

Hello there,

I installed Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon some months ago.
As I never used Linux this long everything was new to me.
But since the very beginning my internet speed was extremely slow. At first i thought it was because my network connection at work was bad but now I am at home and can confirm that it is indeed super slow to open websites.

Following is the observable behaviour:
Chrome start -> Open any website -> Loads for about 10 - 15 seconds -> opens page
Second try without restart after visiting another site -> Open same site which was loaded once -> instant loaded

My internet connection is a 100 Mbit/s so that should be no problem.

After some research I tried using google DNS 8.8.8.8 or OpenDNS.
I deaktivated ipv6
I checkted /etc/nsswitch.conf for weard samba entries
I turned DNSSSEC off as it was a problem for some guy i found
I did nslookup for google for example and tried the same with the ip afterwards its both slow.

There is a noticable wait time when I ping www.google.com in comparison to using the ip instead:

As little addition: It doesn't matter if I use wireless or wired connections.

Nothing I found helped so far.

I just tried a Ubuntu 16.4 LTS in liveboot and installed chrome. Websites are loading almost instantly.

Please help because I don't want to switch to ubuntu or any other distribution than mint but can't work like that anymore.

Do you mean live boot with mint? If yes I'll try as soon as I'm at home.

Need help. This is really annoying... for example I can't even listen to spotify because the client can't resolve the requests fast enought so it seems...

Try this:

1) install resolvconf app "sudo apt install resolvconf"
2) restart Chrome (or whatever application you are having the issue with)

The resolvconf application changes /etc/resolv.conf file and acts as an intermediary between programs which use that file
