[SOLVED] Ethernet Stopped Working. Now no wifi either.

Post by KenanQHD »

Hi everyone,

I am using Linux Mint Sylvia. This morning, my ethernet connection to my laptop stopped working. However, wifi WAS working.

I tried plugging in the ethernet cable from my wifi router into my laptop to see if that would work, but it didnt. Plugged the cable back into my wifi router and now my wifi doesnt work either!

What is going on? Did my laptop do something to screw up my ethernet connection and wifi router?

The only thing i can think of is that i updated linux-libc-dev from version 4.4.0-121.145 to 4.4.0-122.146 and ifupdown from 0.8.10ubuntu1.2 to 0.8.10ubuntu1.3 today. Could that be a problem?

Try if it helps when you boot from an older kernel. They're hidden under the section Advanced in the Grub bootloader menu.

Did you perhaps disable wifi by means of the Fn key combination for it?

No I did not. No devices are connecting to the internet

Could be your ISP is down?

You could try to reset or reboot your router.

Hahaha, you were right. The school campus I live on disabled the internet for the day. Everything is back to normal.
