Connect xbox via openVPN

Post by pastyfish » Tue Jul 31, 2018 12:03 pm

Hello there,

I've been using Linux Mint for a couple of weeks now messing with various things.

Today I've been trying to connect my xbox to the world via openVPN.

So the laptop with LM running connects to the internet via WiFi with an openVPN connection and some ufw rules to force everything through tun0. I connected the xbox to the laptop via Ethernet cable and then googled the hell out of it. I put the xbox on the same ip range as the WiFi network.

xbox 192.168.1.106
LM Ethernet: 192.168.1.109
LM WiFi: 192.168.1.4
Router: 192.168.1.1

I messed around with iptables, ufw rules but alas no cigar.

It seems like it should be straight forward to achieve but I'm stuck now and need some wizardry to get me through.

I'm using a liveusb set up so everything is fresh, no funky software or setups other than the ufw rules below...

Code: Select all

To Action From
-- ------ ----
Anywhere ALLOW OUT Anywhere on tun0
xx.xx.xx.xx xxx/tcp ALLOW OUT Anywhere on wlp2s0
Anywhere (v6) ALLOW OUT Anywhere (v6) on tun0
Cheers!
