Is there any way to restart the network driver?

Post by Valsodar »

I just had a strange experience: in my network there are 2 computers - mine and my sister's. My internet connection died (I was listening to an online radio, so I knew it immediately) but my sister's connection remained active. So I rebooted the computer and my connection came back. Based on what a friend told me, it seems the network driver must have crashed. So, if he's right and the network driver did crash, is there any command or another way to restart the network driver without rebooting the OS?

driver: e1000e v: 3.2.6-k port: f040 bus-ID: 00:19.0

this is what I was given for that.

sudo restart network-manager

you can also just log out, and right back on.
much quicker than a reboot.

Control-Alt-Backspace will restart the desktop
