Totally awesome experience!!!
This is the first time in 15 years or more that I have been able to dump Windows completely and operate almost exclusively with this very incredible distro of Linux. The Cinnamon/Lightdm works better than any other that I have tried. And when I need to run a Windows app I just run it under Win7 under Virtualbox under Mint.
So, yesterday I upgraded to Mint 19 using the "mintupgrade" utility and followed a tutorial at https://www.tecmint.com/upgrade-to-linux-mint-19/
It took a few hours and I had to be extra careful but I am but glad to say that it came up and ran the first time.
So now I am doing a few benchmarks and the first one is to use Ookla Speedtest to see if the ethernet would still perform all the way out to my ISP's server and back at 970 Mbits per second download. Well, I only get 580 Mbits download.
Is this a kernel issue, and ethernet driver issue or TCP stack issue? Hard to say. But I am wondering if I need to make some tweaks to get back to my original speeds that I had with 18.3.
My office assistant runs an old desktop with Mint 18.3 and get 970 Mbits still today so I am thinking this is sort of related to well let's call it bloat in 19 (or Ubuntu 18.04).
