losing internet connection

Post by cobrel »

I've been randomly losing my internet connection (Ethernet) on my Linux Mint (18.3 cinnamon 4.15.0-39), restarting or disabling and enabling my connection will fix it but I would like to know why this happens. I have to mention that the connection on other devices is fine.
Below you can find the msg I get after running cat /var/log/syslog.

Re: losing internet connection

Maybe turning power management off for wifi will help.

To turn off power management, edit /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf:
sudo gedit /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf

[connection]
wifi.powersave = 3

2. Change the 3 to a 2.

3. Save.

4. Exit.

5. Reboot.

6. Then run:
iwconfig

and if it worked you should see Power Management:off.
