I picked up a used 24 port netgear switch the other day, and am trying to get it to work. When I plug the power in everything lights up and the fan turns on, but when I plug in an ethernet cable from my router and plug in my laptop or ps3 they don't get a connection. I have done some research and it looks like the switch comes with a setup cd for Mac and Windows. I downloaded the windows version from the netgear website but it requires a newer version of windows than wine covers.
I know that the majority of switches and servers run on Linux based firmware, is there a linux based option that may work?
