Router Attached USB Drive now needs root to access?

Post by Matt832 »

I've been running a WD Easystore USB 3.0 drive attached to my Asus RT-AC87U for a number of months. I have a folder where shared content is stored and it has been easily accessible in my file system after I mount it. A number of applications access it. Today for some reason I can no longer access it. I get an error that it can only be mounted by root. I have changed nothing in my system Mint 17.3. I do run updates when available, could a recent update have changed a setting?

I reboot maybe monthly if that. Rebooted the system a few weeks ago and all was well. Tried to connect after a fresh reboot still have the same issue.

What happened?

I've opened my fstab and the last line is:

//xxx.xx.x.x/easystore /media/routerUSB cifs guest 0 0

And this has worked since I installed the drive, not sure what is wrong.
