LAN Speeds

I'm at wits end.

I have a new GB LAN where I ran Cat6 pretty much everywhere, a new Router (Netgear X10 R9000), 2x24 port 1GB switches, Synology NAS DS216+ and a few other devices. FIOS GB Internet service.

But at the very basic level, I've been running tests inside the house as well as to the Internet and the results are all over the place:

- Router to Internet is pretty close to 1GB speeds, pretty much what I expect up and down.

To test the LAN I have the following setup:

- Synology DS216+ running a Docker instance with iperf3
- I then run iperf3 from my Linux Mint (latest version) Cinnamon desktop and get the following:

So why the F and I not getting closer to GB speeds? This is "wired" speed.

I then tried running iperf3 (server) on another wired laptop and ran it again from my (same) laptop and get the following:

Needless to say, the NAS, laptops, router all support (supposedly) 1GB LAN but I'm not getting anywhere near those speeds internally.

When I go through Speedtest to internet from the same laptop I get (see attached)

I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on or where the bottom neck is. I even tried re-jacking the runs and using a pre-packaged store bought cable (maybe I screwed up the crimps), but no matter what cable I try, hand-made or store bought, I get the same results device to device.

I've looked online and have tried to rule out the obvious but given the router is new, the NAS isn't too old and laptop to laptop gives the same results, I have no idea what to try next.

Any thoughts for me to try?

One other thing: besides the NAS, the laptops are all running Linux Mint. I do have a MacMini and tried iperf from there and it yielded roughly the same results.

Appreciate any thoughts or options.

Humm...
A Gigabit NIC will transfer 1000 Mbits/sec. Yours look pretty close to me.

Yeah, that looks ok, there's always a little overhead on the protocols. Also don't forget that iperf is displaying mebibit/s (2^20 bit), not megabit/s (10^6 bit), i.e. it's a different unit.
