No wired connection

I have a docking station and everything works except the ethernet port. I have tried bringing the interface up but it never connects. (sudo ifconfig enxe4b97a834536 up). If I go into network connections in the GUI it doesn't show anything for wired. I can add it manually but plugging and unplugging the cable seems to do nothing and last used status shows never. The dock is a dell TB16. I can confirm that this dock works with ethernet as I can use it in Windows and other linux distro's.
