New user, new install - no internet via Network - Realtek RTL8125 2.5GbE

Post by ikaracolt »

Hi,

I have had months of maddening audio issues with Windows10 and have decided to take the plunge and move to Linux.
I have successfully got Mint installed in a dual boot setup and the audio from Mint is absolutely perfect so I am extremely happy with that.
But sadly there is no internet connection which I would very much like to get sorted.
My ethernet device is Realtek RTL8125 2.5GbE on the Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO motherboard.

Based on other threads i have pasted in the output from the command: inxi -Fxxxz && rfkill list && mokutil --sb-state

Cheers,
Tom

Well i managed to solve this myself, so i will explain how here for posterity....

I downloaded the driver '2.5G Ethernet LINUX driver r8125 for kernel up to 5.6' from https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zo ... s-software

I navigated to it from Mint and extracted it to my desktop
I then opened a command line and used cd to get to the folder that was extracted
I than executed sudo ./autorun.sh and it installed the driver and I was connected to the internet after about 5 seconds.

I have to say that it felt very good to get this fixed. now i need to get the gpu driver so i can get the display at full resolution...

Thanks anyway, I am sure I will have more questions in the future.....

Cheers,
Tom
