No network connection

Hello,
I have just started getting into Linux Mint. I did a full install, but I can't seem to connect to the internet. I've done about 2 hours worth of searching on the internet, but nothing seems to work. I tried searching for a linux driver (Realtek RTL8111/8168B), and installed it successfully, but it still isn't working. If I knew it would be this much of a pain in the ass, I should've stuck to windows
.
Here's where I downloaded the driver from: Realtek: LINUX driver for kernel 2.6.x and 2.4.x (Support x86 and x64)
Whenever I try connecting, it tries finding a connection, then returns saying it cannot connect.
Here's some data (some people asked for this in other posts I was reading..)
ifconfig
lshw
lspci
nm-tool
Help!
