Post by poision » Wed Oct 31, 2007 11:48 am

Hi i installed linuxant(conexant) modem drivers on my compaq v3000z laptop.1st of all i found its non free drivers and free drivers only providing ya 14.4kbps speed.N linux ant says you ve to pay for full version.Well i installed free drivers, everything went well but now it locked my sound.Does anyone tried this drivers or pls guide how to open sound again? Is there any alternative to make my modem work?Pls help. Thanks in advance.

I think you have an internal winmodem with some Linux drivers - not a very good solution. Sound is closely connected to the modem and I have given the advice to enable the modem in BIOS to get sound
Don't know what to do in your case though
I doubt there is an alternative to make your modem work. If I'm right about win modem this is the alternate way
Please confirm if it's a win modem

I haven't tryed them in Mint as I just discovered Mint and am downloading it right now but they work in Ubuntu 7.10 so chances are that it will work for Mint. anyway Dell now does Linux drivers, Ill bet they work for you. I think the source is there to or there about to release it.

I'm using this driver in Mint 4 now. It obtains the full modem speeds.
