Every once in a while I get on a kick to make a partition and check out other distros and DE's. This time I gave Manjaro a try with all their DE's. Ok, not bad but being a DEB guy I wasn't into learning new tricks.
Installed Mint XFCE and played with it for a while. It just was't Mate and I really couldn't see any difference in speed but I did see some freeze issues while using Vivaldi. The look wasn't too bad but there were some weird panel clock things going on.
So my experiment brought me back to Mint Mate, a DE I've been using since moving from Mint Cinnamon. I had Cinnamon on an older laptop and it caused some vid issues and when I went to Mate everyone of those issues disappeared. So when I got a more modern laptop I just migrated to Mate.
I think I am stuck on Mate?
I think I am stuck on Mate or is it just me

Re: I think I am stuck on Mate or is it just me
MATE is like that comfortable shoe. It doesn't look snazzy but it doesn't make your feet hurt, either.
Although I have to say, Cinnamon has made great progress, a lot of work is being done on it. But as far as integrated desktops like that go, currently I think I'd prefer deepin.
But sticking with MATE and its modularity myself.

I prefer the Mate desktop too.
I tried others over the years and some were nice, but I just prefer the neatness and simplicity of Mate.

the Cinamon desktop is nice / snazzy / colourful,
but also glued to the Mate version,
& even though most of my LinuxMint install's now have had both Mate & Cinnamon installed.
- - the remenissions. og Gnome2 are still very strong.
