LXDE CE Update

Post by McLovin » Fri Jul 17, 2009 3:02 am

I just wanted to give everyone an update on what is going on with the LXDE CE.
I have found the base that I am going to use, and have been working with it, but I have to redo the menu setup, which requires rewriting a lot of the code/config files, so that the entries are in the correct places, and it is proving to be very difficult, and taking a bit of time to get right. I have also recently had a baby, so that is taking alot of my time, and i have had surgery, and require a couple of more, so that is taking quite a bit of time as well, going to doctors appointments, and the like.
But I am working on it, I have not flaked out, and dropped it, it is just requiring a bit more work than initially thought.

Well, I'm trying to get some work done on this, and I have some screenshots to show, click on each image to see a full size version

As you can see I have made some custom artwork for the release, and I am working on redoing the menu setup so that it works better with the mint tools, and the rest of the system apps.

McLovin, congratulations for your baby! :) I hope the surgery is about moving 3 hairs 1 inch to the right/left. :D First of all, make sure your health is in good shape. We're not that desperate (you have no idea) so we can wait until everything's right in your camp. :) Before helping others you need to be able to help yourself first. Thank you again for the preview and say Goo-goo-ga-ga! to the little one, from us. :D

McLovin, I love the darker Mint Dew wallpaper and the folders and icons look great too! Also, the customisation you did to the shut down dialogue really looks nice!

McLovin, you are teasing us with your lovely darker-side of Mint theme. I am hoping this version of LinuxMint will work in my teaching lab as the equipment is very basic. Can't wait to find out and say good bye to bloated OS. Actually the LinuxMint xfce is not too bad but we could not use the gnome as it made the PCs too slow.
