Re: Release Date?
I think the team is making the new version.Louis wrote:When will Celena or just a beta be released?
We have to wait the Ubuntu 7.10 final version?
Ubuntu 7.10 Tribe 2 Beta is available.
(bad english xD)
Celena is part of the 3.x family, aka Linux Mint 3.1, it will be based on Cassandra and compatible with Feisty repositories so it will be released before Gutsy Gibbon (Ubuntu 7.10).
Key features in Celena are:
- mintAssistant (beta - nearly stable)
- mintServe (alpha)
- new black and green theme (in design)
- mintShare (in design)
- new tools and system improvements (in design)
- Compiz fusion (might be postponed to Mint 4.0)
You will see releases for Cassandra KDE and XFCE editions first, and at the same time releases for mintAssistant, mintServe and mintShare on the forums. Eventually between August and September we'll release Celena.

newW2,
Thanks, I run my own Site, and the most visitors come from the US.
Yesterday, I had over 300 visitors. I run Google Analytics, Mint is missing a lot of countries. Germany hardly shows up, nothing from the Spanish speaking countries, or Africa.
I added Translations to my site trying to get a larger audience, but so far no luck.
Spreading the Word about Mint needs something more.
I'd like to spread the Word.

Say it isn't so . . .
I had taken a little "vacation" from Linux for a few months and decided to do a fresh install of Cassandra over my Bianca. I just did this a couple of hours ago, then I logged onto the LinuxMint forum and find out there is a new version of LM coming out soon called "Celena"? I feel like Rip-Van-Winkle.
The reason I took a "vacation" from Linux as some of you are wondering is that I have been content with doing all my major productive computing using Windows XP Pro. OK, stop boo-ing, XP is not all that bad and there's some great software out that that is Windows only. Anyway, I have been bouncing back and forth between PCLinuxOS and LinuxMint, but they were both in the beta stages a few months back and I got tired of anticipating the final product. Here it is months later and I still can't decide on which Linux is best for me although I am leaning a bit more towards LM because things just seem to be more "automagic" with LM, and not so much with PCLOS. While at this moment I have the freedom to be wishy-washy over making this decision, if I was forced to make a "corporate decision" over this, I'd say go with LM.
I guess I shouldn't get too comfortable with Cassandra when Celena is soon to show up.
