Hello,
When I try to connect to the red by clicking on "red" I get the error message written in the subject.
I am working with Mint 17 Cinnamon.
Any idea how I could solve the problem?
Inr reality, what I need to do is to connect to a server with service type "windows share"
Cheers!
P.S. Sorry, I am not 100% sure I am posting this message in the right forum topic

Re: nemo cannot handle locations "network://"
Looks like a missing package to me:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install gvfs-backends

Linux Mint 19.1
Nemo gives this error when I try to browse network:
Could not display "network:///". Nemo cannot handle "network" locations.
Spent hours trying to find something wrong with samba, preventing me from seeing windows shares when I came across this post and found the solution to my problems.
I used the desktop package manager and searched on gvfs-backends
I installed it and everything finally worked! Description for gvfs-backends follows:
Gvfs is a userspace virtual filesystem where mounts run as separate processes which you talk to via D-Bus. It also contains a gio module that seamlessly adds gvfs support to all applications using the gio API. It also supports exposing the gvfs mounts to non-gio applications using fuse.
This package contains the afc, afp, archive, cdda, dav, dnssd, ftp, gphoto2, http, mtp, network, sftp, smb and smb-browse backends.
Thank you for providing this solution.
