Post by niubboxp » Fri Jan 20, 2017 1:21 pm

i need some explanation about that, because i do not understood and searching on the web don't have give to me any help

performing netstat -tulpn i have this exit code

Code: Select all

Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name
tcp        0      0 127.0.0.1:631           0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      661/cupsd
tcp6       0      0 ::1:631                 :::*                    LISTEN      661/cupsd
udp        0      0 0.0.0.0:68              0.0.0.0:*                           784/dhclient
udp        0      0 0.0.0.0:631             0.0.0.0:*                           662/cups-browsed
i know what cups and dhclient does, but i do not understand what those service are able to to with this (open?) ports

1) there is something opened on internet? i know 127.0.0.1 is localhost, what 0.0.0.0. is? i've read is th internet access, so there are internet access trough those ports?

2) there is any security issue with those ports on my lan if an untrusted device will connect?

3)how can i improve my security with internet and also with the lan?
