Samba Share Access from Windows 10, Server

Post by dynamikspeed »

It's my first time setting up a samba share. I have been trying to get this working for hours.
I have made a samba share on a USB Drive connected to my Mint 18.2 laptop.
I can access this ok on a Win10 VM on Virtualbox with NAT. The VM is stored locally and ip is 10.0.2.x set to name: workgroup
My whole network is 192.168.0.x and i can ping the laptop ok from the above VM and access Samba share.
If I change this to Bridged network in Virtualbox settings it gets the 192.168.0.x ip but then can no longer access the share but still pings fine.

I need to see the share on my test lab which is on a separate server (ESXi) with domain not just a workgroup.
These are a mix of Windows Server and Client OS.

This is what i added in smb.conf:

Code: Select all

[Share]
   path = /media/iq/Seagate/SoftwareShare
   available = yes
   valid users = iq
   read only = no
   browsable = yes
   public = yes
   writable = yes
I have looked at this post:
viewtopic.php?f=157&t=254877&p=1374147& ... e#p1374147

I download files on the laptop and simply want to see them across all my VM's to install files etc.
Is there an easy way to do this? Any help is appreciated.
