Mint Mate 18.2
Could someone please post a step by step tutorial on how to get 2 Linux Mint Mate 18.x machines to network shared folders on a network. New clean installs. No share folder option present when right clicking on folders.

Re: Mint Mate 18.2
I think you need to install samba on each machine. This will share with windows too. Samba shares folders whereas NFS and CIFS-utils share whole devices.
Click on start - synaptic - enter your password
Enter samba in the search box, hit enter and tick the box for samba when it appears.
(python-dnspython will be added automatically)
Likely you should also scroll down and tick the boxes for recommended packages to go with it too, i.e. samba-dsdb-modules samba-vfs-modules
I've not done this but have a look about and see if you can suss it from there.
Good Luck

Edit. nautilus-share might be useful too!
