Exposing Virtual Image

Post by arimakidd »

I have built a Virtual Machine, a Mint lamp server using Hyper-V. A Joomla site is installed. I have 2 routers at home, an isp router and a wireless. The computer is connected to the wireless router via ethernet. The Uplink for the wireless comes from the ISP router, so I guess the ISP router is my egress point. What can I do to expose the joomla website built on the vm so that a someone can type up an ip address and the Joomla website shows? I am thinking the IP address of my isp router and then the person can see the website. What can I do for that to happen?

The better way to do what you want is to check your router's manual for support of a service called DynDNS or similar and set it up using a free account from one these providers: https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2014/04/t ... to-dyndns/

You will also need to open a port on your router.

This sounds very interesting. I will look into it and provide feedback.
