For a while, the icon was missing from the notifications area. I've been googling and trying a lot of things that didn't help.
Now the icon appears.
If the mouse hovers over it, it indicates "No network connection".
If I left click on it, it indicates "device not managed" for both the "Ethernet Network" and the "Wireless Networks".
Cli commands ifup and ifdown work for eth0.
"ifup wlan0" does not work. DHCPDISCOVER fails to get an ip address. This may be a separate problem.
