CIFS Mount nach Kernel Update --> Server down [solved]

Post by DonaldDuck66 » Thu Jan 11, 2018 5:37 am

Hi,

I use Linux Mint Mate 18.3
uname -r results
4.13.0-26-generic

Yesterday I recieved a kernel Update:
linux-libc-dev 4.4.0-104.127 --> 109.132
ruby2.3 2.3.1-2~16.04.4 --> 2.31-2~16.04.5
libruby2.3 2.3.1-2~16.04.4 --> 2.31-2~16.04.5
With the next boot the Cifs mounting of my windows server puts out:

Mount Error (112): Host is down

Normally the mount is done with the /etc/fstab
//192.168.178.8/Benutzer/ /home/cm/Server/Benutzer cifs user=cm,credentials=/home/cm/.smbcredentials,nobrl,uid=cm,gid=cm 0 0

The same server is accessible via Linux Mint Mate 17.1 and same /etc/fstab

Any suggestions how to solve this problem, or some more Infos about my System ?

I have the same problem. I posted a reply on a similar topic: viewtopic.php?f=157&t=261306#p1412817

//192.168.178.8/Benutzer/ /home/cm/Server/Benutzer cifs user=cm,credentials=/home/cm/.smbcredentials,nobrl,uid=cm,gid=cm 0 0
It would help if you told us what version of Windows Server you are running.

In the mean time ... what does this do:
//192.168.178.8/Benutzer/ /home/cm/Server/Benutzer cifs user=cm,credentials=/home/cm/.smbcredentials,nobrl,uid=cm,gid=cm,vers=1.0 0 0
Before Kernel 4.13 the default cifs smb dilect was SMB1 - now it's SMB3. The vers=1.0 option in fstab forces it to the old default.

Thanks altair4,

drives will be mounted as before.
My Server is running a pretty old "Microsoft Home Server" OS.

Thanks for the quick help.
